Categories of products

The products are structured in various categories. These categories are used to define groups and sub-groups allowing to allot functionalities or properties to a whole of products. Thanks to the categories, it is thus possible to define the countable preferences for a whole whole of products, to apply a promotion or a rule of calculation of the price to the whole category or to generate statistical reports by group of products.

Like many documents of Tiny ERP, the categories are structured hierarchically. This makes it possible to apply properties at various levels of the structure of the categories of products. To consult the categories, use the menu: Products > Categories of Products.

The figure above has a simple structure of categories of products. You can then double-click on a category to obtain the list of all the products belonging to this one.

To define a new category or to publish an existing category, use the menu: Products > Definitions > Categories of Products.

The field “Relative Category” makes it possible to define the relation of tree between the various categories. If you modify the value of this field, the category as all its subcategories will be moved in another site of the hierarchy.

The accounts of valorization of stock for each product can be defined by product or for a a whole category of products. With this intention, select a category and click on the icon “properties”. You will be able to then indicate the general accounts of valorization of stock for the products of this category. If a product redefined its accounts, those will take priority on those defined in the category for this product.
